Vom Restaurant und von der Terrasse aus haben die Gäste nicht nur einen wunderschönen Blick auf die umliegenden Weingärten und Trüffelwälder im Mirna-Tal. Ein echter Hingucker ist auch der „Water Mirror“, ein nur vier Zentimeter tiefes Wasserbecken, in dem sich die umliegende Landschaft spiegelt und abends auch der Sonnenuntergang. Das „Roxanich“ bietet seinen Gästen zudem Erlebnispakete unter dem Motto „Von der Traube bis zum Glas“, die Führungen durch die Reblagen und den Weinkeller sowie eine Weinprobe enthalten.

Budući da smo prvi zašli u njihove prostorije i kušali njihovu gastronomsku priču, odmah na početku moramo biti iskreni i reći kako eklektično uređen interijer apsolutno plijeni vašu pažnju, nakon čega primat preuzima divan pogled s prostrane terase koji puca na dolinu Mirne... Svoju ponudu prezentiraju kao vrlo ozbiljno koketiranje s bistronomijom, a jedna od vizualno efektnijih stvari je svakako rôtisserie na kojem osim peradi žele pripremati i druge vrste mesa ovisno o sezoni te velike staklene i osvijetljene vitrine za odležavanje mesa i sireva.

As befits a boutique wine hotel in the heart of Croatia’s greatest foodie region, the restaurant at Roxanich is outstanding. After kicking off with a delicate prawn carpaccio, we moved on to a wonderful seasonal fritaja with local wild asparagus (this would be replaced by black truffles in the winter). This was followed by a lovely fragrant risotto with scampi and Istrian saffron, and for mains we had the phenomenally good aged beef – in this case, aged for 100 days, and unlike any other beef I’ve ever tasted, anywhere. The house specialty (which we had the following day) is a delicious salad of dressed crab with a celeriac remoulade. There are also tasting menus, which make a good way to explore the Roxanich wine range.

So langsam wird es eng am Weinhimmel. Da stehen sie – Kopf an Kopf. Die üblichen Mainstream-Weine Merlot, Chardonnay & Rioja aus Frank- reich, Spanien, Deutschland und Co. Nicht, dass wir sie missen möchten – aber langsam wird es Zeit, dass das Sternenmeer Zuwachs bekommt. Denn es gibt sie noch. Die etwas anderen Weine dieser Welt, die zwar unbekannt, aber nicht minder großartig sind. Und jetzt, wo Kroatien auch ganz offiziell zu Europa gehört, ist es an der Zeit, des Landes rising star Mladen Rozanic vorzustellen, der sein Weingut in Istrien, auf den einprägsamen Namen Roxanich getauft hat. Eine coole Mischung seines eigenen Namens und des Liedes Roxanne von Police.
